A worker collecting benefits for a back injury is facing fraud charges after he was reportedly observed lifting weights at a gym that exceeded the five-pound restriction his physician imposed, the Washington State Department of Labor and Industry announced.
Omid M. Dashti, 41, injured his lower back in December 2022 while working as a delivery driver for a bottling plant. He started collecting indemnity benefits in January 2023 after his medical provider determined the injury prevented him from doing delivery work.
