The Alaska state House of Representatives passed a bill that would increase the cap on permanent impairment benefits by more than 54%, to $273,000 from $177,000.
The House on Tuesday voted 29-10 to pass HB 30, by Rep. Andy Josephson, D-Anchorage.
The measure that was carried over from 2021 would also increase the aggregate death benefit payable to the immediate family when a deceased worker has no widow, widower or children, to $150,000 from $20,000.
