Puerto Rico this month became the 15th U.S. jurisdiction to adopt some type of presumption for frontline workers who fall ill from COVID-19.
The territory's governor on June 1 signed into law a measure that extends comp insurance coverage to workers such as police, firefighters, doctors, nurses, paramedics and other health care workers, along with lab and nursing home workers, according to a news report.
Other types of employees may also be eligible for benefits if they can show that the infection came through work duties, the report said.
