Sawmill Operator Fined $184,385 Following Death Investigation

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined the operator of sawmills in several states $184,385, saying that its failure to follow safety standards resulted in the death of a worker. A 20-year-old sawmill operator at Rex Lumber LLC’s facility in Troy, Alabama, died in December 2022 when he was crushed while trying to clear a jammed machine.
