The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning that two drugs commonly prescribed to injured workers can cause breathing problems when taken together with central nervous system depressants including opioids.
The FDA on Dec. 19 said serious breathing difficulties may occur in patients using gabapentin or pregabalin who have respiratory risk factors including use of opioids or conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
