A bill that would make it more difficult for an injured worker to establish that an employer acted with “deliberate intent” to cause injury passed the West Virginia House of Delegates on Tuesday, despite forceful and sometimes emotional objections from 10 Democrats and one Republican.
Just one lawmaker – Rep. John Shott, one of the bill’s sponsors – spoke on the House floor Tuesday in favor of House Bill 2011. But Shott was ultimately part of an almost-silent majority, as the House voted 59-38 to send the bill to the Senate.
