Lawmaker Proposes 'Fix' After Court Ruling Against Employers

A Wisconsin Republican lawmaker has introduced a bill to “fix” statutory language that allows temporary workers to sue their temporary employers for negligence if they choose not to file a workers' compensation claim. Assembly Bill 884 would prohibit injured workers from filing tort claims against certain third parties, including temporary-help agencies to which the employees are placed or leased. The proposed legislation, which had a public hearing Thursday before the Assembly Committee on Insurance, stems from a Jan. 9 decision by the state Court of Appeals, District III. ...
