“With a new governor about to take office, it is time for me to move on and make way for new leadership,” Lacewell said in a memo to the New York Department of Financial Services.

Spectrum News 1 described Lacewell as a longtime adviser and aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who announced his resignation Aug. 10 after the state attorney general published results of an investigation that found the three-term governor sexually harassed 11 women. Cuomo’s resignation will also take effect Aug. 24.

Spectrum 1 reports the attorney general’s report identified Lacewell as being among the current and former officials who contributed to the “effort to undermine the credibility of the sexual harassment claims” against the governor.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, who is replacing the governor, last week vowed to get rid of anyone from Cuomo’s administration who was implicated in the attorney general’s report, according to the New York Post.

“No one who was named as doing anything unethical in the report will remain in my administration,” she said.
