Counterfeit Drugs a Growing National Problem, Report Says

Two Ukrainian men pleaded guilty two weeks ago in Houston to conspiring to smuggle counterfeit medications into the United States. Instead of containing life-saving cancer and hepatitis drugs, the pills the men sold to investigators were little more than over-the-counter heartburn treatments, according to the federal charges against the two. The guilty pleas are the latest indicators of a problem with fake meds — one that has grown worse as patients stay at home and use telemedicine and mail-order pharmacies during the coronavirus pandemic, says a new report by a medical industry watch...
