Benefits for injured workers nationwide have declined significantly in recent years, but employer costs have not fallen as much, according to a new report from the National Academy of Social Insurance.
The report found that medical benefits, as a percentage of covered wages, fell on average by more than 19% from 2014 to 2018. Indemnity benefits dropped by 15.5%. Employer costs in that time frame, though, declined only by about 12%, as a share of covered wages.
