If Republicans hold on to a pair of closely contested New York State Senate seats, the GOP-led chamber will be in a position to push workers’ compensation reform, WBFO reports.

Ken Pokalsky, vice president of government affairs at the Business Council of New York State, told Buffalo’s NPR news station that the Senate Republican majority’s agenda is “more in line with ours and vice versa” and that the council will urge the Senate GOP to reduce comp costs for businesses.
Democrats are not conceding just yet, WBFO reported. Republican Michael Venditto, son of a prominent Long Island Republican who has been indicted on corruption charges, leads his Democratic challenger by just 33 votes.
There likely will be a count of paper ballots, the station reported.
