The Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs on Friday proposed rules to implement minimum and maximum benefit provisions in the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.
OWCP said some of the provisions capping the amounts of compensation and death benefits, and setting a minimum compensation amount addresses areas that have become topics of litigation.
The agency said the rules would clarify how it interprets and applies these provisions. The proposal would also include an annual adjustment to the minimum and maximum benefit amounts to account for inflation.
