The New York State Workers' Compensation Board would be required to issue stop-work orders to employers that knowingly fail to provide workers’ compensation coverage under a bill filed for the 2025 legislative session.
Senate Bill 162, by Sen. Jessica Ramos, D-Queens, would require the WCB to notify employers of its intent to issue a stop-work order within 72 hours of finding a violation.
