Tower MSA Webinar Will Examine Cybersecurity Risks in Work Comp

Thursday, February 6, 2020 | 0

Tower MSA Partners will hold a webinar later this month exploring cybersecurity threats to the workers' compensation industry.

The use of technology is increasing in the comp world with telemedicine, predictive analytics and automated claims processing. But in addition to providing efficient modes of process, technology also offers hackers an entry point to private claim information, according to Tower MSA Partners.

A breach of claims data could result in steep fines for violations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, also known as HIPAA. Breaches can also damage a company's reputation and interrupt care for injured workers, Tower MSA said.

Dan Anders, chief compliance officer of Tower MSA, will moderate a panel of cybersecurity specialists who will share real-life examples to illustrate the cybersecurity threats that organizations of all sizes face, during the webinar that starts at 2 p.m. Eastern Feb. 19.

Jesse Shade, vice president of information technology for Tower MSA; Vigilant Technology Solutions’ Seth Marsh; and Robert Kolb, president of Premier Mindset, will also discuss the risks of data breaches, and measures to prevent them.
