Wednesday, February 8, 2023 | 0

A bill that would permit first responders to file workers’ compensation claims for post-traumatic stress disorder was filed in the Kansas Senate on Monday.

SB 165 would add PTSD to the statutory definition of what constitutes an “injury” for first responders.

The bill defines first responders to include firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical service providers, “whether paid or serving as a duly authorized volunteer.”

The bill was sent to the Senate Commerce Committee.
