The Illinois Appellate Court ruled that an insurance carrier that had intervened in an injured worker’s third-party action was not subject to the rules of discovery. Case: Burdess v. Cottrell Inc., Nos. 5-19-0279 and 5-20-0021, 12/01/2020, published. Facts and procedural history: Gregory Burdess worked for the Jack Cooper Transport Co. He suffered injuries in 2014 when he fell from the deck of a vehicle transportation rig while in the course of his employment.
