The clock is ticking for California lodging businesses to evaluate their workplaces for hazards to housekeepers, under a new Cal-OSHA regulation that the agency is calling the first of its kind in the nation.
The regulation, which took effect July 1, gives businesses until Oct. 1 to conduct an initial housekeeper safety evaluation. In addition, lodging businesses must develop a written musculoskeletal injury prevention program that addresses hazards specific to housekeeping.
