Worker Gets Benefits for Mysterious Fainting Spell

The Oregon Court of Appeals upheld an award of benefits to a worker who was injured in a spell of fainting from an unknown cause. Case: Matter of Kelkay v. SAIF Corp., No. 848, 11/27/2024, published. Facts: Mengesha Kelkay fainted while waiting in line for an employer-required vaccination. He suffered injuries when he fell. Kelkay was 85 years old. A doctor who examined him on behalf of the employer’s insurance provider noted that Kelkay had fainted once before, approximately a year and a half earlier.
