The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined a Louisiana contractor $50,703 for violations that resulted in the drowning death of a heavy equipment operator at a worksite in North Carolina.
Austin Eugene Furner, 26, died Aug. 19 when the excavator he was operating on Eagle Island turned over and was submerged in the Cape Fear River, according to media reports.
