Declining payrolls, delayed return-to-work, struggles to access medical care and a spike in the demand for telemedicine services are among the initial major impacts of COVID-19 on the workers’ compensation industry, according to a survey by Health Strategy Associates.
Other impacts include more death claims among health care workers and first responders, confusion over which COVID-19 claims should be accepted, dealing with work-from-home claims, and the long-term impact on actuarial data and projections.
