Indemnity benefits for certain volunteers in Missouri would be based on how much they earn at their regular jobs, under a bill introduced Tuesday.
House Bill 2641, by Rep. Kyle Marquart, R-Washington, would require using the average weekly wage from regular employment to calculate time loss benefits owed to volunteer firefighters and volunteer emergency service responders.
The bill would also declare that the volunteers would need to suffer a temporary and total disability that prevents them from performing their regular jobs to qualify for indemnity benefits.
