While California eases out of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board office has reopened to five days a week and commissioners have seen an increase in case filings, Chairwoman Katherine Zalewski said.
And as WCAB staff continue to make progress on a backlog of cases, commissioners — who now number six following last month's retirement of Juan Pedro Gaffney — have increased the number of cases granted for study following a half-year slowdown that happened because of the state’s lockdown orders, Zalewski said.
