The California Senate Rules Committee on Wednesday unanimously voted to recommend that the full chamber approve a second term on the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board for Commissioner Marguerite Sweeney.
Sweeney brought 33 years of experience as a workers’ compensation lawyer to the WCAB when she was appointed by former Gov. Jerry Brown in 2012. Sweeney said during Wednesday’s hearing that she had some experience defending employers, but most of her work involved representing injured workers.
