The aging of the U.S. workforce has had nearly no impact on the steady decline in the frequency of workplace injuries, according to a new report from the National Council on Compensation Insurance.
The report takes a look at how changing workforce demographics have impacted claim frequency.
In 1996, 12% of the workforce was 55 or older, a figure that grew, to 22.4% in 2016, and is projected to reach 24.8% in 2026, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics figures cited in the report. Women now account for 47% of the workforce and more than half of labor force growth.
