The Workers’ Compensation Research Institute on Wednesday said average medical payments per claim fell about 33% from 2014 to 2017, satisfying the main goal of House Bill 373.
HB 373, enacted in 2014, tasked a new Workers’ Compensation Oversight Panel with creating a fee schedule to cut medical costs by 20% in the first year and by 33% over three years.
In addition to finding a drop in average medical payments per claim consistent with the intent of the bill, WCRI said total costs per claim continued to decrease after 2017.
