Members of the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau’s Classification and Rating Committee on Tuesday signaled support for allowing California insurance carriers to decide whether they want to use a new unit statistical code for reporting COVID-19 premium charges not included in their 2021 filed rates.
Although no formal vote was taken, members appeared to agree that carriers should have the option of either submitting charge data to the WCIRB via the new code or filing the information in a rate plan adjustment with the Department of Insurance.
