Modern workers' compensation systems that began to take shape in the early 20th century in the United States required doctors to mail bills and wait months for payment. In 2020, things are very much the same, said Sarah Moray, cofounder of billing firm DaisyBill.
But there are signs that things might be changing and support for electronic billing is growing.
“With the COVID pandemic, the many failings of paper billing are preventing workers’ comp bills from being processed and paid,” Moray said during a webinar on e-billing last week.
