Food Processor Fined $242,000 for Amputation

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined an Ohio-based food processor after a temporary worker’s finger was cut off in a meat grinder. OSHA said a 29-year-old kitchen worker at Zwanenberg Food Group USA in Cincinnati was injured on June 23 when he reached into a meat grinder’s unguarded discharge port.  OSHA fined the company $242,197 for two repeat violations of not installing required machine guards and failing to train workers on lockout/tagout procedures.
