Premium fraud committed by employers accounts for a greater share of convictions and dollars lost to fraud in California than false claims filed by workers, but workers are more likely to be sentenced to at least one day in jail according to a WorkCompCentral analysis of data reported to the Department of Insurance.
Between Jan. 1, 2013, and July 10, 150 individuals were convicted of defrauding workers' compensation carriers out of $8 million.
