The California Assembly Appropriations Committee passed a bill requiring in-state licensing for doctors performing utilization reviews for those injured working for private employers.
The committee on Wednesday voted 12-2 to pass SB 636.
The bill would establish that, for private employers, only a physician licensed in the state is allowed to modify or deny requests for medical treatment.
Similarly, the bill would establish that psychologists must be licensed in California to work on claims involving private employers.
