A Canton, Ohio, steel product manufacturer is facing $77,000 in Occupational Safety and Health Administration fines for allegedly exposing its employees to amputation and fall hazards.
The administration found a lack of guardrails, hole coverings and other precautionary measures in a range of locations at two of TimkenSteel Corp.'s plants in May and July, according to a Thursday press release. A September investigation at a third plant revealed a lack of measures to protect workers from machines starting up unexpectedly during maintenance or cleaning.
