Committees Pass Comp Bills Ahead of Deadline; Assembly OKs New Skin Cancer Presumption

Appropriations committees in both chambers of the California Legislature passed multiple workers’ comp bills last week and the Assembly unanimously approved legislation that would extend presumptive coverage for skin cancer to some game wardens and state parks employees. The Assembly on Thursday voted 76-0 to approve Assembly Bill 334, by Assemblyman Kevin Mullin, D-South San Francisco, which would extend a rebuttable skin cancer presumption to peace officers with the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Parks and Recreation.
