Newer businesses and new employees have more injuries, and workers’ compensation claims tend to rise with the temperature in summer, according to a new report on contractor risk from AmTrust Financial Services.
The carrier said its review of 26,000 workers’ compensation claims filed over the last 10 years found companies in business for fewer than four years make up about 75% of claims. At the same time, workers with four or fewer years of employment account for about 66% of claims, with first-year workers making up 33% alone.
