Researchers: No "Wholesale Denial" of Treatment

A study released Wednesday by the California Workers' Compensation Institute says that 96% of requests for medical treatment are ultimately approved within the state’s workers’ compensation system, a finding the authors say contradicts claims that the system results in “a wholesale denial of care.” The CWCI study found that carriers paid 84.7% of medical services without a request for authorization or utilization review.
