The Pennsylvania Supreme Court will weigh in on whether a self-insured government entity can subrogate Heart and Lung Benefits Act compensation from a third-party settlement received by an employee injured in the line of duty.
In April 2023, the Commonwealth Court ruled that the City of Philadelphia was entitled to take a portion of the recovery Barbara Tiano received from the PECO Energy Co. for her injuries from falling into a utility hole.
