A Mississippi jury awarded more than $9 million to sickened employees of a furniture maker who they accused of ignoring complaints about the danger of a glue they used in an unventilated work area.
The jury awarded compensatory damages of $1.925 million and punitive damages of $7.5 million to four employees of the Franklin Corp.'s furniture manufacturing plant in Houston.
Franklin used a glue called Soft Seam Adhesive, which contained a hazardous chemical known as propyl bromide from 1999 until 2004, according to court documents.
