Kids' Chance of California Reaches $1M in Scholarship Awards

Wednesday, September 29, 2021 | 1377 | 0

SOQUEL, CA - September 28, 2021 - Kids' Chance of California, a non-profit education scholarship provider to the children of California workers that have been fatally or seriously injured on the job, has announced that it reached $1M in scholarship awards in early 2021.

Notwithstanding the hurdles that have been presented to all non-profit organizations due to COVID-19, Kids' Chance of California awarded 51 scholarships adding up to $244,187.60 to students throughout the state of California. The number of scholarships awarded in 2021 increased by 18% (up from 43 scholarships) compared 2020. The growth in the number of scholarships awarded is the byproduct of the generosity of the organization's donors, sponsors, and the tireless efforts of all of its supporters.

With the need for educational scholarships growing annually, Kids' Chance of California launches a campaign to reach high schools throughout California to bring awareness of the scholarships available to children of injured workers and enlists the support of the workers' compensation community through trade conferences and meetings each year.

Kids' Chance of California's Treasurer, Bryon Bass stated, "At Kids' Chance of California, our call to action is "More money for more kids". As treasurer of the organization, I set a bold goal three years ago to award $1M in scholarships by 2022. At the time, we had awarded just over $400,000 in the first seven years of our existence. Given the strong support of our sponsors and donors, and the ever-increasing number of kids requiring scholarship, I felt strongly the goal was achievable. I want to thank every sponsor and donor for your support. And, if we were able to award over $600,000 in scholarships in three years, I'm certain we can reach the next milestone of $2M by 2025. Let's do it "MORE MONEY FOR MORE KIDS"!
