A policy committee in the California Senate passed an amended bill relating to premium fraud investigations.
The Senate Committee on Labor, Public Employment and Retirement on Wednesday unanimously passed SB 536, by Sen. Bob Archuleta, D-Pico Rivera.
Carriers and licensed rating organizations are currently required to report suspected fraud to a local district attorney and the fraud division of the Insurance Department. SB 536 would add a requirement to also notify the Employment Development Department of suspected premium fraud.
