Employers Holdings Names Christopher Laws EVP

Employers Holdings Inc. named Christopher Laws executive vice president and announced he will succeed Katherine Antonello as chief actuary when she transitions to president and chief executive officer of the carrier on April 1.

Laws joins Employers from AIG in New York, where he most recently served as chief actuarial administration officer for the carrier’s global general insurance business. Before AIG, he worked at the National Council on Compensation Insurance.

Laws earned his bachelor’s in mathematics from the University of Florida and is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Employers in November announced that Antonello will take over as president and CEO when Douglas Dirks retires on April 1.

Antonello joined employers in August 2019 as executive vice president and chief actuary. She came to the carrier from the National Council on Compensation Insurance, where she worked as chief actuary since 2013.

Employers, based in Reno, Nevada, is a monoline workers’ comp carrier that focuses on small businesses in low- to medium-hazard industries.
