NLRB Declines to Call Northwestern Football Players Employees

The National Labor Relations Board ruled in favor of Northwestern University in a dispute on Monday, effectively blocking the school's football team from organizing a union and preventing the players from entering the workers' compensation system. The players secured a declaration from the board's Chicago regional director in March last year that they were employees and thus entitled to wages, benefits and the right to unionize.
