Federal workplace safety rules currently require workers to include their Social Security numbers on impersonal, routine forms, and the rules include feral cats in the definition of vermin.
In an attempt to modernize those rules, the federal workplace safety agency has proposed 18 changes to its record-keeping, maritime, industry and construction standards.
The changes remove feral cats from the definition of vermin in a rule about keeping shipyards clean. They also remove the requirement to include Social Security numbers on exposure-monitoring and medical surveillance forms.
