A National Safety Council survey of 2,000 workers in various industries across the nation found that 33% of employees believe productivity is prioritized over safety at their workplaces.
That percentage is higher among those in high-risk industries such as construction (60%) and agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting (52%), the fields that yield the most occupational deaths each year, the council found.
The survey, released as part of National Safety Month, asked workers questions about their perception of how safe they are at work.
