Two reports from Texas and Florida show that the COVID-19 pandemic is having a deeper impact on compensation claims than many had predicted, and first responders, correctional officers and health workers are responsible for about two-thirds of the claims.
In the early days of the pandemic and economic slowdown, some actuaries and observers predicted COVID claims would be relatively few and that overall claim frequency would remain well below totals seen in recent years.
