Foster Farms Employee Dies in Industrial Accident

Foster Farms reported that a 50-year-old man died in an industrial accident Wednesday, according to a report by the Merced Sun-Star.

Mario Ramos Espinoza was working at the company’s fertilizer plant near Livingston when the accident occurred.

Daryl Allen, a spokesperson for the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, said preliminary details suggest Espinoza arrived at the work site around 4 p.m. to work on a water truck. A coworker found Espinoza underneath the truck, which was still running.

First responders were called at 10 p.m. and Espinoza was pronounced dead at about 11:30 p.m.

The Sun-Star reports the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the accident.
