A tire manufacturer and two contractors are facing a combined total of $523,895 in proposed fines after receiving 22 citations from federal safety regulators.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Kumho Tire Georgia Inc. on May 23 for allegedly exposing employees to the risk of falls, being struck by objects, and burns; failing to follow procedures to protect employees from hazardous energy when servicing machinery; failing to train employees on energy control procedures; and failing to provide machine guarding on equipment.
Proposed penalties total $507,299.
