Prison Guard Pleads to Altering Return-to-Work Date on Doctor's Report

Monday, December 28, 2020 | 0

A former New York prison guard has pleaded guilty to altering a doctor's note, which allowed the man to postpone his return-to-work date by one week.

The New York State Inspector General's Office reported that Kyle Bouille, 27, changed the return date from Jan. 18, 2019, to Jan. 23. He had been collecting workers' compensation benefits after an injury at the prison.

The alteration came to light when Department of Corrections officials noticed discrepancies in Bouille's documentation and referred the matter to the Inspector General.

Bouille was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge, a fine of $50, and he must pay $3,322 in restitution.
