A deal to take over Memphis-based Helios is reportedly close, with health insurer UnitedHealth set to pay more than $1.6 billion.
The takeover could be announced as early as this week, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed sources familiar with the talks.
No deal had been made by Thursday afternoon and the talks may fall apart, Bloomberg said.
Helios provides workers' compensation and pharmacy benefit management to some of the largest U.S insurers and third-party administrators, managing more than seven million prescriptions annually.
