California attorneys will be required to take 11 additional hours of continuing legal education every three years under a rules change proposed by the State Bar.The Bar's Member Oversight Committee is proposing revisions to Titles 2 and 3 of the Rules of the State Bar and California Rule of Court 9.31 to increase the Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) requirement to 36 hours every three years instead of the current 25-hour requirement.Under the revision, the Bar will require eight hours of legal education addressing legal ethics or legal practice management.
