New York lawmakers introduced legislation that would require hearings before any final decision to close a case.
Bills introduced in the Senate and Assembly Wednesday would also clarify that records of all hearings must be “stenographic.”
Senate Bill 4161, by Sen. Jessica Ramos, D-Queens, and identical companion measure Assembly Bill 903, by Assemblymember Latoya Joyner, D-Bronx, would prohibit the Workers’ Compensation Board from closing a case or issuing a decision without first holding a hearing.
