Senate Urged to Quickly Pass 9/11 Victim Compensation Bill

Pressure is now on the U.S. Senate to quickly pass a bill that would replenish a 9/11 victim compensation fund, after the House of Representatives voted 402-12 on Friday to pass the measure. H.R. 1327, also known as the Never Forget the Heroes Act, would extend authorization for the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund of 2001, through fiscal year 2090. The fund is intended to compensate emergency workers and others who got sick as a result of their work at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
